Summer
Solstice Greetings,
As the June
weather played it’s peek-a-boo game of sun and rain, I found it necessary to
become more attentive to my garden – and Mother Nature – would She water for me
or was it my turn? I also started to notice how my activities changed from day
to day – and my mood – loving the rain and the freedom it gave me to pursue
other activities.
Suddenly I found myself engrossed in a completely unplanned task – cleaning out my too-many-ring-binders. A very rewarding task, but also a bit inconvenient as I’d other activities planned, including this e-zine. Then it dawned on me, Gemini falls in my 7th house of relationships, but exactly how did that correspond to my activities?
Well, Gemini is an Air sign and I was reorganizing my intellectual relationships to better reflect my current interests and priorities; things really got intense as I moved into my 8th house of transformation.
The
Story: in Cancer, a feminine Water sign, we can connect
deeply with our inner self, and while this opens the door to new insight and greater
self-knowing that empower us it’s also a time of greater vulnerability that
might compel us to seek comfort and safety within our current frame of
reference instead of expanding our comfort zones.

The Dance:
recently a friend of
mine shared this wisdom with me, “Life Begins when we step outside our comfort
zone” and I’ve been experimenting with stepping out of my comfort zone, which
resulted in some quite wonderful new experiences.
The other
evening as I was watching animal migration patterns on a “Nature” show on PBS,
I realized just how profound stepping out truly is, because some salmons
decide not to leave their spawning river and join the migration to the ocean
and never reach their full potential size. As I reflected on the non-migrating
salmon I started to see where I refuse to migrate, for example, every time I
began to write this ezine, I’d skirt sideways like the crab, the symbol of
Cancer, and end up with the task undone.
That
inspired me to look deeper my unfinished 8th
transformations-migrations and where I’ve refused to step out of my comfort
zone. What house contains your Cancer and the Summer Solstice in your chart?
Can you spot unfinished migrations in your growth or integration connected to
the issues suggested by that house? Because swimming, which might include
migration, is the Dance of Cancer.
Tidbits: With Water - as with Air - there is no separation, we can feel ‘the
wholeness’ and the Full Moon in Capricorn produce a teeter-totter between the
desire for personal safety (Sun in Cancer) and social recognition (Moon in
Capricorn) take a deep breath and empower yourself by daring to migrate.
Goddess
of the Month: since we’re likely to need
comforting during our time in Cancer I chose my favorite Goddess TARA, who can see beyond
the veil and gently remind us that all things pass, and each moment is perfect.
Trust the life process says Tara, and be at peace.
“The challenge we all face
is the challenge to be ourselves in a world
that’s trying to make us like
everyone else.”
