Namesta my dear friends & Welcome to the Dance of Virgo,
And an open letter to a dear friend who
recently told me that she found my ezines somewhat incomprehensible, and much
to my surprise I’d little to offer her that could help her connect with my
intent in creating these short synapses. Since that conversation I’ve pondered
both my intent and to what extent I’m bringing it across, and how I might make
it more assessable given that I want to keep it relatively short, because most
of all I intend my ezine to be a compass to guide us; an anchor in an ocean
of change so we may be self-empowering because we’re
consciously aware of our own inner knowing and wisdom, rather than relying on
other peoples ‘truths;’ and a touchstone
that keep us connected with our whole life in a culture determined to keep us
fragmented.
Here is my “short” version of what I hope to share with my friends and readers: since forever I’ve been convinced ‘there is something more to life than meets the eye’ and starting in 1976 and continuing to this day the ‘something’ I focus my attention on is the Laws of Attraction, as taught by Hermes, “As above so below; as within so without” which is, in short, the concept that if we’re not using our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs to attract what we desire in life we’re working way too hard. And most importantly, I learned, that “we’re not alone” that the entire universe is designed to assist us attain whatever our hearts desire IF, and it’s a big if, we learn to resonate in harmony with the ‘thing’ desired. ~ Today many scientists, philosophers, and spiritual teachers propose we’re living in the middle of a major paradigm shift, one that closely resembles prof. Willis Harman‘s proposes, “Perhaps the only limits to the human mind are those we believe in.”
Unfortunately, there is more to “the Laws of Attraction” than simply stumping our feet and demanding I want, I want, I want – in fact that very act may push our desire beyond reach. My studies and experience has taught me (and empirical research now concur) that what we ‘send out’ is what returns to us; conversely everything in the universe (nearby or afar) is also sending… so we’re always sending and receiving – consciously or unconsciously and there is the rub: what are we sending out? And how are we receiving?
So the key to “living a life we love” is to become finely tuned receivers and transmitters – and in the world of energy, a higher vibrations (love, kindness, gratitude, etc) travel faster and touch more ‘stuff’ along the way than a low vibration (fear, dissatisfaction, lack, etc). ‘The web of life’ is one continuous whole, it’s all connected, intelligent, and relative, meaning it assists us in attaining whatever we send out according to our vibration: vibrate fear and lack, receive fear and lack; vibrate love and abundance, receive love and abundance!
So how do we become finely tuned musical instrument
making beautiful music? We train ourselves to tune in to our personal
energy fields (our aura) and the energy fields that surround us; we sensitize
ourselves to be receptive to synchronicities (also know as serendipity, the faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident),
we develop our sense of humor and we learn to trust our intuition and inspirations,
it’s Life guiding us to our best expression - it’s guiDANCE. ~ (As heard on PBS: be more amazed; be more inspired; be more
alive, connected, & awed)
This I call
‘enlightened self-interest’ and years ago,
when I read Barbara Sherr’s conviction that our ‘failures’ are due to lack of
support, not will or won’t power, I decided to become a ‘supportive actress’
and find a way to provide support for myself and others to live ‘our best life
performance’ ~ and I receive my Oscar every time someone shares an epiphany or
an especially joyful and meaningful Harvest with me (or refer a friend).
And
finally, why did I choose Astrology? I find it a powerful tool for self-empowerment, as we become
self-empowered we can meet the ever changing landscape of our lives with grace;
for, as Heraclites (c.535–c.475 B.C.) taught, “there is no permanent
reality except the reality of change; thus the only possible real state is the
transitional one of becoming.” Astrology provides a way for us to
tune-in to the ever-changing energies at work in our lives and for learning to
pay attention to a greater invisible reality – as my grandson shared with me
just last week, “there is no such thing as reality.” That holds for me a LOT of promise, for then it’s changeable;
since reality is not ‘written in concrete’ it’s moldable into new ‘realities’ –
new powerful (vs. depleting) stories – as the movie “What the Bleep do we Know?” shows us with great
humor and playfulness. Astrology gives us an infinite number of stories about
ourselves, our friends, our social world, and the Great Beyond, and it gives us
a language to express the invisible and a way to dance with energetic fields; most of all it’s a great tool for connecting us to
ourselves, each other, and the Web Life.
Sharing
this ‘Wisdom of the Ages” with the people in my life gives my life meaning, and as James Hollis
writes in “On This Journey We Call Our Life” happiness is ephemeral, meaning
is lasting. My granddaughter calls me a ‘nature person’ and she has a point for
as I see my flowers bloom and watch the birds dance across the sky, I am
convinced that life is not intended to be ‘worked at’ but rather to be played
as a symphony of sounds, colors, feelings, and thoughts expressed through our
creative actions. I hope this letter sheds some light on my friend’s inquiry –
and maybe answers some unstated questions of your own – about my chosen theme
of
The STORY, the MUSIC, and the DAN C E.
So in the spirit of providing you inspiration for your journey through Virgo territory, let’s begin:
The STORY, each time
we enter a new sign we can, if we tune in, feel a slight shift in our energetic
being
Virgo, an earth sign is grounding where the fire of Leo,
that we’re leaving, wants to soar. Virgo time is more introspective than the
outgoing, often fiery showmanship of Leo. Virgo takes Leo’s impulses and
refines them into sustainable forms. Or we might tune in to a past, even
childhood, delight and turn it into an adult craft.
Even if your sun-sign isn’t Virgo, you might be irresistible
drawn toward reconnecting with past talents and abilities and find yourself
yearning for greater competency and skills in one or more of these areas…
Another important influence of Virgo energy is the desire to harmonize your
spiritual and mundane elements of life. For example, during a Virgo new moon, I
adopted the motto: Restoring the Sacred to Everyday Living.”
Most of all, since Virgo rules natures harvests; during
Virgo Suns & Moons, we explore who we are, where we’re headed, and what we
have achieved, and what we can do to improve the effectiveness of our efforts. Last month I chose Gaia as ‘Goddess
of the month’ due to Her ability and willingness to experiment and explore what
is possible. In Virgo we get to see the results of such vivid imagination. As
Einstein said, “imagination is more important than
knowledge,” because imagination is the foundation for inspiration and
creative self-expression.
During Virgo time, watch out for her pitfalls, her tendency to overanalyze, seek perfection, and to worry if “something is too good to be true;” take a close look at your ‘addictions’ I just discovered one I never considered, “an addiction to a need to know – everything”, which I discovered when I read Angeles Arriens “The Four Fold Way” so now I’ve put myself on a ‘book diet’…until I’ve finished several books I started, but didn’t finish because I just “couldn’t wait” to read the next one…
Too often
we limit ourselves with too many books, programs, and people,
who, however well-intended, seem determined to put us into yet another
straitjacket of do’s and don’ts, in their desire share their truths, instead of setting ourselves free to experiment
and explore what is possible… for us… in real time! ~
The MUSIC, this is
a new feature this month, because dancing with music sometimes help ‘get us in
the mood’ – or change one… when we want to speed things up a bit or slow it
down and earthy Virgo desire a slower tempo than what suited Leo, who might
favor a Quickstep, Virgo might long for a seductive Tango. Try both, or
something else, maybe solo dancing under the stars? Check out – or rather IN –
and see what resonates for you – today, and then check again for the next
30-tomorrows – or whenever you feel like it…

Tidbits,
Mercury,
freshly direct and reeling from its bout with Mars, is ready to pick itself and
make some new commitments. During Virgo both new & full moons fall on a
Saturday, giving us extra time to tune-in and celebrate, the Virgo New Moon is
on September 3rd and the Pieces full Moon is on the
17th.
Goddess of the
Month, in ancient times Virgo
was
celebrated as the Queen of Heaven; this ancient archetype was know
as Isis, Nut, Ceres, Demeter, Corn Mother,
Potato Mother. In modern times the Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven,
represents the quiet power, nurturing qualities, caring, and bridging or
intercession abilities of Virgo. Therefore I choose Innanna,
ancient Sumerian mother
goddess, who was both the protector of grain
and the queen of heaven, she combines earth
and sky. Powerful, self-sufficient, passionate, and many-sided, she is a
fertility goddess as well as the source of the earth’s wells, springs, and
rivers.
