Namesta, and welcome to Libra’s Energy cycle and the Fall
Equinox today, Thursday…
The STORY, The Sun moves into Libra at the exact moment when the days
and nights are equal, the day we celebrate the Autumnal Equinox.
Libra is a
masculine, Air sign, and the key to Libra is balance and equilibrium; balance
requires judgment, knowledge, perspective and integrity, and Libra time gives
us special opportunities to develop those qualities.
Libra'
people are known for their special grace, and Librans are attracted to beauty,
truth, and goodness. The three air signs, Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, are
the humanists of the zodiac, and Libra is the most humanistic.
Libra, as air sign, emphasizes the mind. It is a time when we can clarify our
thinking and sharpen our judgment. Comparisons and contrasts become our raw
material for drawing balanced conclusions.
In The Knot of Time by River and Gillespie, they
described Libra’s background this way, “The name Libra comes from the Libya
Goddess of Holy Law who carried the scales of judgment; her Egyptian
counterpart was Maat, the spirit of equilibrium, of justice, truth and
rightness.”
A major
Libran problem: losing sight of being true to oneself in the desire
to please everyone in the name of harmony. And as Libra's vision expands and
she gains maturity, Libra learns to love herself as loves her friends as
equals; “…needs are not in conflict or bargained over but pooled and shared.”
For she has learned “that the breath of Maat, the Cosmic Consciousness, flows
equally through one as through the other." (River and Gillespie)
This can
cause Librans to have difficulty choosing where to ‘take a firm stand’ this can
be due to underlying fear of ‘am I doing the right thing,’ because we work on
reconciling our lives with our ideals. This activates our Memory, which is stimulated as we rebalance the
flow of our lives by relating past to present, present to future.
The MUSIC, which brings me to the
Muses, the
nine patron goddesses of the arts in Greek mythology the daughters of Zeus and
Mnemosyne, a Titan who personified memory; each Muse exemplifies a special art
form: Calliope, epic poetry & eloquence, Euterpe, music & lyric poetry, Erato, love
poetry, Polyhymnia, oratory or sacred poetry, Clio, history, Melpomene,
tragedy), Thalia, comedy, Terpsichore, choral song & dance, and Urania, astronomy.
Where in your chart (which House) does Libra display her
charms and her creative impulses? What harmonics are you hearing? I have Libra
across my 10th and 11th‘s houses and this year I was
inspired to attempt something new: I’m doing Alchemical, Astrological Tarot
readings at The Gathering of Spiritual Diversity Festival, in Fair
Oaks < www.4thegathering.com
> Saturday, Sept 24, 9am - 9pm & Sunday,
9am - 6pm. This commitment to spread my wings and express myself in a new way
caused me to face some unconscious fears, but fortunately I’d just read an
interview with Frances
Moore Lappe and Jeffrey Perkins, co-authors of “You Have the Power, Choosing
Courage in a Culture of Fear,” which inspired me to choose courage.
The DAN C E, maybe you
saw the movie on “Dolphin Rescue” and were dismayed to see how our newfound
love of swimming with the dolphins, has created an industry that
endangers their well being? This points out that how at times our loves can be
as destructive as our fears…. Love is not always love for the right thing and fear sometimes stop us
from doing something foolish, so as you engage with the Libra energy, evaluate
if your choices are in accord with Libra’s desire to live in beauty,
truth, and goodness.
Tidbits: Fall
Equinox, this Thursday and Monday, October 3 we have a New
Moon & Solar Eclipse, in Libra
& Monday, October 17, we have a Full Moon in
Aries.
Goddess
of the Month: I have chosen Aphrodite, also known as Venus,
Goddesses of
Love and Beauty and right now she’s dancing with Mars, her polar opposite.
Venus is the intense sign of Scorpio, which is not its favorite place.
Aphrodite/Venus is magnetic and Her powers of attraction are intensified now,
and it can attract whatever it strongly desires. Venus and Mars are intimately
tied together now. Mars rules Scorpio, the sign in which Venus is traveling.
And Venus rules Taurus, the sign in which Mars is traveling. They must pay
attention to one another.
